San Juan, Puerto Rico - September 19, 2024 - On the seventh anniversary of Hurricane Maria, T-Mobile reaffirms its commitment to Puerto Rico's continued resilience by strengthening its strategic alliance with Engine-4, the island's leading innovation and technology center. As a founding partner of the first 5G-IoT Lab in Puerto Rico, T-Mobile will provide new state-of-the-art equipment connected to its 5G network, enabling Engine-4 to continue driving innovation in sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, urban development and environmental sustainability, the latter taking on more relevance as storms and hurricanes are impacted by climate change.

This consistent collaboration between T-Mobile and Engine-4 underscores the commitment of both organizations to foster technological advances that address key global challenges such as food safety and environmental protection. The new devices donated and connected by T-Mobile's 5G network will enhance Engine-4's ability to develop innovative projects, including the revolutionary AgroBrain, a smart agricultural container equipped with artificial intelligence-powered systems and advanced imaging technologies, such as the Goldeye G-034 XSWIR camera, to monitor plant stress and optimize crop productivity in real time. These innovations represent a significant step towards sustainable agriculture on Earth, and even in space.

"At T-Mobile, we are committed to driving Puerto Rico's resilience and technological growth. Our partnership with Engine-4 has allowed us to develop innovation, and with the new equipment we are providing that is connected to our 5G network, we look forward to continuing to empower innovators, startups and communities across the island to develop technologies that will help Puerto Rico face a better prepared and more resilient future,’ said Jorge Martel, vice president and general manager of T-Mobile Puerto Rico.

Engine-4's 5G NB-IoT Lab has become a hub for creativity and technical education, where programs such as FarmBot, GRONO and GoTSoil are already leveraging agricultural technology for more sustainable farming practices. In addition, the lab hosts various initiatives such as the Technology and 5G Workshop for Girls and the IoT Bootcamp, which equip the next generation of Puerto Ricans with critical skills in programming, IoT and sustainability.

"The collaboration with T-Mobile has been vital to realizing our vision of an innovative and sustainable future for Puerto Rico. With the 5G technology provided by T-Mobile, we are poised to further expand our reach and address real-world challenges that will benefit not only Puerto Rico, but the global community," stated Luis Armando Torres, Founder of Engine-4.

Looking ahead, Engine-4 plans to expand its 5G NB-IoT Lab and establish a dedicated AgroTechnology Center to continue its mission of merging technology with agriculture to create sustainable solutions. From smart agriculture to environmental conservation projects, such as coral reef restoration through 3D printing, Engine-4 and T-Mobile are positioning
